Job searching when relating your military career to your civilian career presents its own inventory of obstacles. As such, it can be very helpful for veterans to connect with job search sites and employers that cater to their experiences and are pro-actively reaching out to connect with veterans. Fortunately there are several such sites. Below we list 5 and give a basic summary of their attributes.
Military.com – a resource site created by veterans for veterans. With resources to help veterans make transitions to civilian life plus connections with proactive employers this site makes an excellent network to connect with as you look for your next role.
Fastport – A software recruiting system that specializes in logistics and connects military veterans and civilians with a variety of positions using their proprietary software. Their apprenticeship program can be especially enticing as it connects folks with industry recognized training, certification, AND new roles all at the same time.
HireVeterans – Online since 2003 it has become a major e-recruiting point for veterans, spouses and dependents. Post a resume, find job fairs, and connect with employers proactively reaching out to make sure former service members are considered.
RallyPoint – A community of 2 million current and former US military members. It helps you connect with veterans at major companies that can help you translate your experience into corporate skillsets and has major resources for the job search as well.
HireHeroesUSA – It bills itself as the largest veteran employment non-profit. With more than 85K hires and more than 36K jobs currently posted it can certainly track some good numbers. HireHeroes is a great spot to check in and its smooth operating system make it an up to date online experience.
